This policy explains what information the Gargantua iPhone app and getgargantua.com process, why it is processed, and the choices available to you.
Scope and overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Gargantua application and the website at getgargantua.com (together, the “Service”), created and operated by Mario Luis Gutierrez Abed (the “Service Provider”). Gargantua is a freemium subscription-tracking tool intended for use as provided.
No Gargantua account is required. Your core library is stored on your device. If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, that library is also stored in your private iCloud database. The Service Provider does not operate a separate account database containing your subscription library.
Information we process
Information you enter in the app
Gargantua processes the subscription information you choose to add, which may include a service name, price, currency, billing schedule, start or end dates, trial information, status, category, notes, website address, reminder preferences, brand-logo selection, and custom logo image. It also stores app preferences needed to present your library and widgets.
Optional iCloud data
iCloud Sync is off by default. When you turn it on, your subscriptions, categories, custom logos, and selected settings are synchronized using Apple CloudKit and iCloud key-value storage under your Apple Account. Apple processes this data under its own privacy terms.
Purchases
If you view, make, or restore an in-app purchase, Apple and RevenueCat process information required to offer and validate it. This can include an app-scoped purchaser identifier, product and entitlement identifiers, transaction or receipt information, purchase status, app version, operating-system version, device type, locale, and related technical information. Gargantua does not receive your full payment-card number.
Brand search and logos
When you search for a company or load a remote brand logo, the search text or requested brand identifier is sent to Brandfetch, along with the network and technical information ordinarily required to deliver the request. Search is optional; you can create a custom subscription without it. Do not enter personal or confidential information into brand search.
Reminders and support
Renewal reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device and can include the subscription information needed to identify the renewal. If you contact support by email, the Service Provider receives your email address, message, attachments, and any diagnostic details you choose to send.
Website data
The Gargantua website does not currently provide accounts, a contact form, advertising, or analytics scripts, and it does not intentionally set tracking cookies. Website hosting and network providers may process standard request information—such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp—to deliver and secure the site.
How information is used
Information is processed only as reasonably necessary to:
- store, organize, calculate, and display your subscription library;
- schedule renewal reminders and update widgets;
- sync data when you explicitly enable iCloud Sync;
- search for brands and display the logo you select;
- offer, verify, and restore purchases and Premium access;
- respond to support requests, prevent misuse, and maintain the Service; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing is based on providing the Service you request, your consent for optional features, the Service Provider’s legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, or compliance with law.
Third-party services
Gargantua relies on a small number of providers for specific features:
- Apple distributes the app, processes App Store purchases, provides iCloud and CloudKit, and delivers local-notification and system services. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat manages product offerings, purchaser status, entitlements, and restoration for in-app purchases. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Brandfetch supplies optional brand-search results and remote brand-logo files. See Brandfetch’s Privacy Policy.
These providers may process information in countries other than your own and apply their own retention, security, and legal-compliance practices. Their processing is governed by their respective policies and your relationship with them.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you delete individual records, use Gargantua’s “Delete All Data” control, or remove the app and its data. If iCloud Sync is enabled, “Delete All Data” also requests deletion of Gargantua’s private iCloud record zone. Data may remain temporarily in device or iCloud backups according to Apple’s backup and retention processes.
Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal obligations. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain a support history, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
You can control most Gargantua data directly:
- edit or delete subscriptions and categories inside the app;
- leave iCloud Sync disabled or turn it off in Settings;
- manage notification permission in iOS Settings;
- avoid brand search by creating custom entries; and
- delete local and synchronized Gargantua data using “Delete All Data.”
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, request portability, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. To make a request concerning information controlled by the Service Provider, email support@getgargantua.com. Requests concerning Apple, RevenueCat, or Brandfetch data may also need to be directed to that provider.
Security and children
Gargantua uses platform security features and limits data handling to the features described in this policy. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so you should protect your device, Apple Account, passcode, and backups.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through support correspondence, contact the Service Provider so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated as Gargantua changes or legal requirements evolve. The revised policy will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by another appropriate method when required.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to Mario Luis Gutierrez Abed at support@getgargantua.com.
